What "restaurant app" actually means: four roles, one system
The phrase "restaurant app" often blends two things: (1) a consumer app that lets guests order from their phone (Yemeksepeti-style), (2) an app the restaurant staff uses to take orders. Sevvo is the second — the system the restaurant itself runs — designed for four roles: waiter, cashier, kitchen, manager. Guests are reached through a QR menu that requires no install.
Being a web app instead of native has three concrete advantages. Zero install friction: waiter tablet is ready in 5 minutes without an App Store account or MDM. Update speed: new features or emergency bug fixes ship on browser refresh, not after 1-2 weeks of App Store review. Device flexibility: iPhone/Android/iPad/PC all use the same features — no separate native builds.
The only exception is the Windows POS cashier product, which is a native Tauri app with auto-updates. That choice is deliberate: the cashier terminal is fixed-location, and native gives more stable printer and cash-drawer integration. But waiter tablets, kitchen screens, manager dashboards stay web — no device limits.
